What is upper arm lift surgery?

The loss of elasticity of the skin as we age or significant weight loss can create sagging skin on the arm. An upper arm lift, or brachioplasty, is designed to remove the loose skin and leave the arms firm and contoured for a youthful appearance.

Dr. Scott Haydon and the professional team at Austin Plastic Surgery Institute & Skin Care Clinic can walk you through the upper arm lift procedure and the benefits of the surgery. Dr. Haydon has performed many upper arm lift surgeries, leaving patients confident to wear clothes that reveal their arms and happy with the new toned look.

The upper arm lift surgery procedure

Every patient is unique. When you meet with Dr. Haydon to discuss your upper arm lift surgery, he’ll explain where the incision will be made on your arm and the length of the cut. Both factors depend on the amount and location of excess skin to be removed. Generally, incisions are made on the inside or back of the arm. In some cases, the incision may extend from the underarm to just above the elbow. If there is only a small excess in the upper arm near the armpit, a smaller modified incision can be used with a more concealed scar.

Once the skin is removed and additional fat tissue liposuctioned if needed, the underlying supportive tissue is reshaped and tightened to support the new contour. The skin is pulled smooth over your arm to reveal a toned, trim look.

The procedure typically takes about 1-2 hours, and the recovery is 1-2 weeks in most cases.

Thank you so much to the whole team. I received a wonderful consultation where they recommended the best thing for my body and did not try to oversell me.

What results can I expect?

Brachioplasty results are typically long-lasting, but some sagging skin may return as you age. To optimize your results, exercise routinely and maintain a healthy diet. In addition to the visual aesthetic change you’ll experience following an upper arm lift, you’ll also increase your confidence and enjoy different styles of clothing you’ve avoided for some time.

Book your consultation with Dr. Haydon to see how an upper arm lift can change your appearance and shift your self-confidence.
