Mommy Makeover

Several years ago, someone a lot smarter than me coined this phrase. In a nutshell, it means combining surgery on the breasts and tummy that have been “altered” by pregnancies. No mother would ever trade her children, but she will happily trade in her current body model for an update.

When to consider a Mommy Makeover:

Anyone contemplating this type of breast and body reset should be finished having children. If you are at your ideal weight (BMI less than 30) and want to flatten your tummy and improve your breast shape, Mommy Makeover might be just the ticket.

Tummy-Tuck

Also known as abdominoplasty, a tummy-tuck can flatten your abdomen by removing loose, excess fat and skin and tightening muscles in the abdominal wall. It can also remove some if not all of the stretch marks in your lower abdomen. It is popular following pregnancy, massive weight loss or whenever a flabby abdomen with weak muscles impairs body contour. Most patients report improved self-esteem as a result of this procedure. (American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery)

When to consider a tummy-tuck: If you are finished having children and don’t like the  appearance of your tummy, a Tummy Tuck can likely help.

Liposuction surgery sculpts your body, eliminating unwanted pockets of exercise and diet-resistant fat from the buttocks, hips, love handles, saddlebags, thighs, calves, ankles, breasts (including male breasts), back, arms and neck. Liposuction is often combined with other procedures to create a desired shape and is one of the safest and most popular cosmetic procedures. (American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery)

When to consider liposuction:

If you are otherwise healthy and just have some focal/stubborn areas of fat, liposuction is a great procedure to help sculpt your waistline and thighs. It is not a weight loss procedure but it can really improve your figure and allow you to get back in those jeans you haven’t worn in a while.

microLipo

MicroLipo is for the patient who is looking to eliminate stubborn fat from areas that are resist to working out and eating healthy.

When to consider microLipo:

Fat Transfer

A fat grafting procedure transfers fat from areas in which you have excess fat, such as the outer thighs, and injects it into areas that may be lacking in volume, such as your face, hands, breasts or buttocks. This safe, long-lasting, well-tolerated procedure produces natural-looking results. Every year, thousands of people undergo successful fat grafting and are pleased with the results. (American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery)

When to consider fat transfer:

If you would like to have a little more fullness somewhere else (other than where your fat currently lives) this can be a great procedure. With Brazilian butt lifts (BBL) for example the waistline fat is removed to help inflate the buttock area. For most of my patients, they don’t want a “cartoon-looking” butt.  They just don’t want to have such a flat butt. Similarly, this is done with breasts. The fat is not as powerful as an implant, but it can really help increase the volume of the  upper pole and is often placed at the time of the lift. Recently we have even been doing this for the face. Fat is the ultimate filler in the face because it is your own fat and has great longevity.

Dramatic weight loss, weight fluctuation or natural aging frequently results in sagging skin in areas below the waistline. Lower-body-lift surgery tightens and sculpts the buttocks, back of the thighs, outer thighs, inner thighs, hips and abdomen. Loose skin that looks aesthetically displeasing or causes mobility restrictions is removed. A lower body lift is appropriate if you are near your ideal weight and may precede or follow an upper body lift procedure. Every year, thousands of people undergo successful lower-body-lift surgery and are pleased with the results. (American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery)

When to consider a lower body lift:

If your weight is stable and your BMI is less than 30, the Lower Body Lift can help lift the outer thighs and buttock. It is typically done during a circumferential abdominoplasty.

Upper Arm Lift

An upper arm lift, or brachioplasty, reshapes the upper arm to tighten loose skin and remove fat that often creates a “bat wing” appearance under the arm. Removing the excess skin caused by weight loss or natural aging can tighten loose skin that extends from the underarm area to the elbow; liposuction is sometimes used in combination to achieve the best results. Every year, thousands of people undergo successful upper-arm-lift surgery and are pleased with the results.

When to consider an upper arm lift:

If your weight is ideal and you have a lot of flabby, excess skin on the upper arms, brachioplasty might be your best option.

Buttock Augmentation

Also known as Brazilian butt lift or butt implants, buttock augmentation is a procedure that reshapes and enhances your gluteal area, providing you with an uplifted and shapelier buttock profile. In the past ten years, this procedure has become increasingly popular worldwide, with shapely buttocks often seen as a symbol of femininity and sensuality. The most frequent methods for enlarging and reshaping your buttocks are fat grafting using your own natural fatty tissue (popularly referred to as the Brazilian butt lift), or with buttock implants.

When to consider a Buttock Lift:

If you feel like you just want a little more shape to your buttocks and have excess fat elsewhere, this could serve your well.
